So I read this article about the RUMORED story behind Miyazaki’s “My Neighbor Totoro” http://my.opera.com/sukekomashi-gaijin/blog/tonari-no-totoro and I’ve been creeped out ever since. I now see this film as a tribute to children and a protest against child violence. I tried watching it again but I don’t think I can without crying. My favorite childhood film just turned into something really deep and I realize that just like growing up, we are going to have to accept some realities that we don’t want. I don’t think I’m able to handle it so well.:/
